You know yourself. You know what you like and dislike. I am not the fondest irish whiskey lover, i prefer scotch 99% of the time. But, if i am going for an Irish Whiskey, chances are that i am getting "a color spot".
Red Spot is the 15yo expression of the amazing Yellow and Green spot, and let me tell you something, i love all of them.
Bottled at 46%abv, burnished gold color.
On the nose, amazingly sweet aroma. A Circus caramelized apple. Apple air freshener. Cotton candy, Sugar and... Potato liquor??. After a first sip i got cherry sweetness and Hershey's Strawberry syrup.
Om the palate it is one delicious and enjoyable dram. An incredible cherry syrup note, Cotton candy; Grainy whisky in a very irish and well crafted form, and
Mashed potatoes (yeah, that is the first time i got it in a whisky).
Afrertasre wasn't that great without being bad at all. Maize, Apple and Sider.
Overall, i really enjoyed this whiskey. I loved all about it and i surely thinknthat the aftertaste could be better, but the nose and palate are fantastic. A super enjoyable dram, my score for this one is a solid 87 over a 100, and i truly recommend it.

@Scott_E I ended up buying a sample from a colleague for $10 ( 10ml). Haven’t tried it yet though. I’ve not seen the Red around as well—-but more so a function of not looking. I think you sent me a sample of the Red some time ago, was satisfied by the pour but wasn’t anxious to hunt for it
@PBMichiganWolverine ugh. I have found a local who had one bottle priced for $150. I passed. Another local, like you, had it listed for $199. I will keep looking. May have to eventually settle for a table pour. What I also noticed is that Red Spot is not an easy find, at least near me. Is production down on that? Or has distribution changed? Or both?
@Scott_E that Blue is pricey. There was one place ( Communiliquour in Jersey City) that I did see it for $99. I placed the order, but then they declined it saying it’s not in stock anymore. Suddenly next day, they priced it $199. I think that $199 seems to be the going rate, even though MSRP is $99
@Scott_E yes, i agree with you 100%. i am now looking for the blue as well
@MunsuLight Green Spot and Yellow Spot are really great whiskies, that is why i was eagering to try this one. i will be seeking the blue spot next.
I tasted Green Spot and Yellow spot in the same night (I dont put them here cause I only put ratings on bottle I have) and they both tasted amazing. If all the good Irish tastes like that, I'm all in for them once they are available next to where I live
The entire spot range is a winner. Not yet having tried the Blue, I really enjoyed the Red marginally over the Yellow. And the Green is great at a great price. Nice review.
