In a local shop - not my usual go-to-shop - I purchased a small tasting pack consisting of 3x 5cl bottles of Tomatin: Tomatin Legacy, the 12 year old 'Bourbon & Sherry Casks', and a 14 year old 'Port Cask'. The last one I had already tasted and reviewed, so I'll only review the first two.
To be honest, as regular readers of my reviews might have noticed - I usually favor peaty, smoky whisky's, so my expectations weren't very high - especially not for the NAS 'Legacy'.
This is review 1/2 - The 'Tomatin Legacy'.
This entry level Tomatin is not very impressive. The nose was rather flimsy, with an idea of citrus, and perhaps some pine. The taste added some vanilla, and some slight peppery notes. The aftertaste was nothing impressive either.
All in all not a bàd whisky, but nothing special either. I would happily drink it when offered, but would never purchase a full bottle myself.
2.5 of 3 stars... I'll give 3...
