Neat. Medium brass with long legs on the glass. Nose is bright and fruity with apple or pear hard cider with some oak, caramel, vanilla, then slight agave, earth, and green herbs. Taste starts bright with a little heat. Caramel, musty oak, vanilla, lightly cooked fruity agave making a big appearance, with the hot cinnamon and milk chocolate, Fresh green herbs/mint leaf notes coming later. Finish is sweet, oaky, spicy, with the sweet oak lasting quite a while. Well balanced. The oak aging notes still leave plenty of the blanco brightness. Sweet, but not overly rich and syrupy.
As with the blanco, I felt a little underwhelmed at first sip of a new bottle, but it got considerably more complex and interesting with some air time. The flavor profile is unique. There's a tangy cider like acidity that adds a brightness to otherwise rich flavors that I appreciate. Worth trying, cool bottle, but a little on the pricey side with some very good options for a little less
