Bottle kill tasting.
N: Smoky and tart, but also cinnamony and sweet? I don't remember this smelling this way. There are some nice herbal hints and things are generally nicely balanced. It isn't overly aggressive, but it certainly does smell like mezcal.
P: Sour smoke with some sweet, slightly watery flavor that brings in cinnamon and some herbal flavor, giving the smoke a bit more of a tobacco character. It's very well balanced and has a lot of depth. I get a hint of some sort of sweet fruit in there somewhere, but it's hard to place.
F: It's kind of a dry, uncomplex finish, but there's a smoky richness that remains, making it seem substantial anyway.
- Conclusion -
This more robust and tasty than I'd remembered. I've always liked this, but I liked it better in the beginning than last time I tasted it. Now, I like it better than last time. I think I'll go up to a 16.
This may not be my favorite mezcal ever, but it's hard to argue that this isn't the best value around at only $24. I mean, seriously!
