This is my first Islay whisky, and it was very different from any Scotch I've had up to this point. In fact I had no idea Scotch could taste like this. All in all, I'm definitely a fan though! In fact, I think it may have made my voice a little deeper and my chest a little more hairy. Lots of band-aid/sharpie in the nose and taste. Very peaty and smoky, like charcoal. Slightly seaweedy and very earthy. A bit like licking the side of a cliff on the ocean. Not much bite or burn. Just barely found the vanilla. Relatively short finish.
