I missed Lagavulin so much!
Finally got a Feis Ile bottle.
Nosing: Orange-y, vanilla comes up first. Some dried fruit also. Lime-y also. Leathery, smoky, briny. Smoked bacon and smoked salmon. Smells like a shellfish soaked with seawater. Gentle peat smoke. Sweet and smokiness alternating, great balance of peat smoke and sweetness.
Tasting: sweet, but also smoky. Some burnt leather in your mouth, briny. Quite citrus. Quite strong.
Finishing: leathery and briny.
Although the ABV is relatively high, I can’t really notice the alcohol burn.
Very very good Lagavulin , but comparing to the glorious Lagavulin 16? I wouldn’t say this Feis Ile bottle absolutely beats the 16yo bottle.
Anyway, I can’t stop drinking it.
