I had a pour of this at a friend’s place last night. The highlight of the evening wasn’t so much this pour, but rather the feeling of getting back to normalcy. This was the first time in over 14 months that we went to a friend’s, where there were other families there, all of course vaccinated. It was refreshing to see people without masks, giving hugs, kids playing outside, and bonding over food and drinks. I can’t emphasis this enough—-with all the new variants coming, it’s pertinent we all get vaccinated, because there WILL be one variant that WILL be able to work itself around the vaccines. The more this virus is out there, the more permutations of variants will happen. Only solution with hopes of back to normalcy is vaccination.
Well, this was one of the pours of the eve. The rest were mixed drinks and cocktails, but this was the only one not mixed. It’s a sweet fruity aroma, with palette that’s more dessert like with dark berries and chocolate. It’s the ideal pour with friends that enjoy bourbon and rye, but aren’t into the exotics like heirloom grains aged in mizunara or such. It’s simple enough, but complex enough to avoid being mixed with ginger ale or cola.
Overall, a great item to have around if you want to cast a wide net of preferences and tastes.

Being 60+ I can tell you it's no picnic to get through it, otoh, I understand why a lot of younger folks basically have the bug bounce off them. I have far less confidence in vaccines than most of you, the reality of those who are sick staying out of society and simply washing hands may be saving more lives than actual vaccinations.
@PBMichiganWolverine Amen brother. Get my second tomorrow. Don’t understand the anti-Vaccine sentiment.
@Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington i’m wondering if that same strain is here already. It has to be ...flights were closed too late. And AZ vaccine ( which India has predominantly along with their own Covishield ) seems less effective against it, but no idea if mRNA based ones would fare better. I’m sure with Pfizer’s vast resources, those tests are already underway
@PBMichiganWolverine the fact that it’s dodging native antibodies and Lilliy’s monoclonal Ab makes me worried. My heart goes out to India - they seem to be living the hell that we avoided (and hopefully stay ahead of). I’m hoping the medical media provides more coverage of what is happening there now and the supplies and relief services necessary find their way there.
@PBMichiganWolverine I got moderna.
@Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington i think the Indian strain is even stronger than the British or South African. That seems to hit younger ages more aggressively.
@ContemplativeFox which one did you get?
Preach - I don’t know if it’s B117 I’m seeing but now it’s the kids and teenagers. Moderna and JJ are working trying to keep up with Pfizer but I’m hoping to have 7 between the ages of 3-6 vaccinated by end of the week and then hundreds more by end of next month! I’m looking forward to barbecues and kids running around while bottles get killed this summer.
Congrats on starting to return to normal! I finally got my second shot, so I'm looking forward to doing this soon too :)
