I’ve always been curious of Garrison brothers , but that price tag always had me question if it’s truly good, or just some price gauging. Thanks to @pkingmartin , I got to sample this.
It’s been sitting at my desk for ages, and I actually opened it up last night to smell it. I was expecting to take a whiff and put it back...but no, the aromas of marshmallows, oak, vanillla and creme brûlée were just too enticing. Taste is more of the same...liquified creme brûlée with a strong dose of a Texas 2 by 4 wooden plank. Lingering taste. I seriously need to make the plunge and buy this.
But let’s talk about that price. $200-300 is damn steep. The only way that price will go down is if demand goes down. And...it just so happens I have over 1900 followers on this app...So...fellow 1900+ folks—-do not buy this. We the people must make a stand!! Let’s boycott all things Garrison till prices slump...and then we’ll swoop in and buy it by the truck load!!!!! I propose we go all out Reddit GameStop style —-us against big booze!!! We’ll mass manipulate the price to come down!!!
On a serious note...this is damn good. I’d rather pay $200 for this than buy 4 bottles of something subpar. In fact...buying one right now online...
Thanks again @pkingmartin

@ContemplativeFox no luck so far. Maybe when I get to 7777? ;-)
@PBMichiganWolverine i just noticed that this was your 777th tasting! I hope it's already bringing you terrific luck :)
This stuff is so good Im telling you dont go back to back with ECBP it will change your perspective. The funny thing is this is a wheater to boot....whooda thunk a wheater could rule like this. ....Weller who?
@Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington Few things are worse than being unable to taste whiskey 🤣
@pkingmartin @Scott_E @PBMichiganWolverine better to have chills, body aches and headache for a day or so than not be able to taste whiskey for several months. Without a vaccine this app will look like the run @ctbeck11 and @ContemplativeFox took on vodka not long ago.
@pkingmartin planning to definitely sample something this weekend.
@Scott_E that’s good to hear. Glad it was mild for you and you’re feeling better. Definitely short term pain for long term gains and a reason to open some new bottles.
@PBMichiganWolverine I have heard the same that Moderna kicks your ass. Pfizer milder. Short term pain, long term gain.
@pkingmartin exactly ...better to be sick 1-2 days than have COVID...especially these new Brazilian , British and Indian variants.
@Scott_E I think the Pfizer one seems less brutal than Moderna. My entire family except me got Pfizer, and they all had mild to medium symptoms. Me, on the other hand, was totally knocked out for 1 1/2 days.
@pkingmartin I got my second Pfizer the other day. It hit me about 24 hours later. Fine the next morning. The afternoon, it started kicking in. No fever. Just muscle aches and a headache and tired. Better today. Aches are gone, slight headache and still a bit tired, but less so.
@PBMichiganWolverine yeah that price is hard to get over but at least this premium priced product delivers the taste you expect unlike many other premium priced products. Hopefully one day the bourbon bubble busts and these are easier and more affordable to find.
@ContemplativeFox @PBMichiganWolverine Yikes! I’m getting Pfizer, so crossing my fingers for just some mild symptoms and lots of good whiskey after. I’ll take a day or two sick over actual COVID any day.
@BeppeCovfefe @pkingmartin I ordered the Cowboy. Hesitated a few times before hitting “enter “...that price. But had to remind myself how damn good this was
@pkingmartin @ContemplativeFox i had my 2nd shot 6 weeks ago. Next day was miserable—-102 temp, muscle aches, headaches. But I guess that’s still better than the real virus. Mine was moderna
@pkingmartin Yeah, I got it last Friday! I got a little bit feverish for a few hours, but not too bad. one of my coworkers hit 104 though 😱 I hope you have only mild symptoms!
@ContemplativeFox are you all vaccinated now? I get my second shot tomorrow and am browsing my collection now to see what I’m opening to celebrate after the possible hell.
@BeppeCovfefe don’t buy the normal bourbon. It tastes like overpriced every day bourbon. Only buy the Cowboy or Balmorhea which are both a premium but seem to be their best barrels blended together. Their single barrels are hit or miss too.
@PBMichiganWolverine You're right - looks like it went up by 4.2%. Fortunately, that's in nominal dollars; otherwise everyone would be starving in the streets after a couple decades of that!
@ContemplativeFox ECBP has been holding steady, but unfortunately I think you’re right. Just a matter of time it’ll go up. Heck...didn’t the CPI just go up to 4% compared to last year? ( fortunately ECBP isn’t part of the CPI... :-)
Looking forward to trying my sample from @pkingmartin too! Just need to find a reason to open my bottle so I can side by side them. ECBP (B520) is the best bourbon I've had that is still affordable, but I'm worried that it won't be that way for long.
@PBMichiganWolverine well that's all i needed to hear, now I have a next bottle on the list!
@BeppeCovfefe this is way better than Blanton’s. No comparison. Might be my favorite bourbon so far. If I consider VFM, then ECBP is up there as well
Around these parts, the Garrison Bros selling for 90$ is no different than Blantons at that price, it disappears no questions. Now that green label Weller is higher than standard Makers Mark, my belief is, THIS IS the new normal.
@BeppeCovfefe yeah, I usually have 1 pour a week. So, sometime midweek I’ll select which pour to have on Friday night. Sort of something to look forward to
"It’s been sitting at my desk for ages, and I actually opened it up last night to smell it" damn son, you have some serious will power, my ability to ignore such bottles is non existent.
@Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington totally agree ! We can...takes a group sync effort like Reddit. If there’s no buyer, flippers will lose money.
If we could target flippers on the secondary the way GameStop was used to punish hedge funds... wow... I can’t even imagine a world where Blanton’s and Elmer T Lee go for $40 again and people can get 4-6 year old craft whiskey for close to the same. I’m also looking at you Peerless... $200 for a 4 year rye? New Riff, Wilderness Trail and Frey Ranch show promise and don’t charge $200+ so what’s the deal?
