Bottle kill tasting here.
Wow, what an improvement! It's way funkier than I remember, in a more mature way. It also comes across a richer and more balanced. This last sip was aerating in the bottle for over 6 months, so this is a ludicrous level of aeration though. Considering how much air this got and how little was left (~15 ml), I won't be formally rating it this time.
Suffice it to say, I really enjoyed this. It's very peppery and herbal with a lot of sour mash funk. The complexity and balance are on point. With this amount of aeration, I'd probably be putting this up there with Russell's Reserve 10 (15-16; could be 14 or 17).
The only problem is that the amount of air required is absurd. I'm fine with rating bottles with a caveat that you need to leave them open 80% full for 3 months, but this was down to the last 15 ml for at least 6! It's just not reasonable to ask anyone to do that.
