Wild Turkey Bourbon 101
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

The kickin' chicken needs no further introduction, so let's get on with it. Matured for 6-8 years in heavily charred American oak barrels, the fiery nose offers no surprises. Vanilla cream, toffee and brown sugar are interwoven with cinnamon, tobacco and hints of acetone. Classic bourbon notes with a spicy punch of rye characterize the palate, rounded off by chamomile, nutmeg and orange jam. Re-emerging sweetness, ginger and a touch of mint linger in the wood-driven finish. If you don't mind the occasional bite, then Wild Turkey 101 is certainly a buy.

@cascode No SMWS expressions in Norway, you nailed it. Most of the Abunadh's as well, every now and then we get batch below 60% ABV.
@Slainte-Mhath Hang on - so if over 60% abv is banned that means you never get some of the SMWS expressions at all?
@Slainte-Mhath WOW - your excise is as bad as ours, but Turkey 101 is around US$50 here so just barely affordable.
@Slainte-Mhath I’d be in prison!
@PBMichiganWolverine The Norwegian alcohol tax is $0.97 per percentage alcohol by volume and litre. That's about $49 for 1L of Wild Turkey 101, or $34 for a 70 cl bottle. Anything above 60% ABV is considered a narcotic and can get you into jail.
@Slainte-Mhath when I visited Norway some years back, I thought the taxes were high on alcohol. Cheaper when we bought from the state controlled wine stores , but expensive in restaurants.
@Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington In Norway, Ardbeg Ten costs about the same as a bottle of Wild Turkey 101. I don't mind drinking bourbon every now and then, but at these prices I rather buy Scotch.
@Slainte-Mhath yikes!! I wonder how spirit prices across the globe are set and expect tariffs and taxes to play a big role but $62 undermines the very mission of Jimmy Russel
Additional comment: Believe it or not, but Wild Turkey 101 costs a whopping $62 in Norway. At this price point, I certainly don't rush to buy a bottle...
