Garrison Brothers Cowboy Bourbon (2019 Release)

Bourbon — Texas, USA

Reviewed May 23, 2021 (edited December 25, 2025)
5.0
5.0 out of 5 stars
This will be relatively short, because I don't have anything particularly insightful to say.  So I'll get right to the point - THIS BOURBON INSANE.  Powerful waves of candied maple, caramel, tobacco, leather, and a hint of wood (mesquite?) smoke.  Rich and very drinkable at full proof.  Is it worth the $300 that's the current minimum buy-in?  I prefer it to the very fine GTS, and it's very close to my all time favorite bourbon, William Larue Weller.  And both of those bourbons require a much greater monetary outlay. At least that's how I'm choosing to justify it. @pbmichiganwolverine, i stuck with your Garrison Brothers purchase boycott for less than two weeks.  I'd send my regrets, but your stellar review set this chain of events in motion.  A big thank you to @pkingmartin for generously sharing a sample of this gem.

Your review prompted me to get out my open bottle of 2020 for a healthy pour. This stuff never disappoints. Its so thick , rich and robust while having a level of refinement far beyond its years. Just magnificent

@PBMichiganWolverine @ctbeck11. That makes three of us. I usually think hard on the rare occasions I go north of $200 per bottle, but this was an easy call.

@ctbeck11 likewise—-bought a bottle after trying this sample.

I just pulled the trigger on a bottle yesterday. One of the best whiskies I’ve ever tasted. No regrets. It’s worth the price.

My top one as well...maybe only bested by a 20154 Four Roses LESB, but that is 3-4x
