Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch B521
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed

Open 2 weeks
Nose - Brown sugar, light orange peel, cinnamon, vanilla extract, clove, and light ethanol.
Palate - Rich brown sugar and caramel, crème brulee, hint of cherries and oranges, short front palate overall. It transitions quickly to a hot finish, combination of baking spices, oak, and ethanol. But it's not a long finish, just hot.
This is one of my least favorite releases of the last 3 years, only slightly better than B519. It isn't complex, and finishes a lot hotter than expected. So far I've been disappointed in the combination of ECBP price increase and their 2021 releases, hopefully their C921 knocks my socks off.

@BeppeCovfefe I loved B520, maybe my favorite batch, tied with C919. B519 and this are my least favorite.
@ContemplativeFox Yep. And it’s priced $10 higher than the really solid 2020 releases. Fingers crossed that this is a fluke and they’ll be back on track with C921.
Is it just me or have the May releases been the more disappointing? I've gotten 1 of those the past 2 years and not impressed with either.
@ctbeck11 This is also pretty low proof. I don't think that's inherently bad, but when it isn't as good AND has several percent less alcohol, it seems like more of a disappointment.
Wow, I completely blanked that this was already released. Sounds disappointing, but I’ll probably buy it anyway.
