This was a great whiskey. The most surprising thing was the lack of ethanol on the nose. It does get spicy and the ethanol hits when you taste it, though.
Appearance: amber/gold
Nose: really surprised there is not ethanol even when I got risky and tried to take a big whiff. picking up peanuts and maybe slight brown sugar. Also smells like damp wood. Not an overall impressive nose.
Palate: the flavors make up for the lack of nose. You get punched by fresh ground black pepper and ethanol up front that gives way to molasses, brown sugar.
Finish: long finish with a bit of dry dusty peanut shell as the burn fades. I mean this in a good way when you have been eating peanuts for 30 min while waiting at Texas Roadhouse and now you’re ready to crush a steak.
