I love the 10yr and the storm so this was logical next step. I gotta say Talisker seems to be one of the most volatile scotches in regards to pricing. I see it drastically different across the country and even in Texas I see wide variation. I also have to say Talisker is by far the most toffee driven profile I have encountered which I love. I mean smoked Heath bar is stamped all over the line. I think this provides a level of candy store comfort that draws so many admirers to the brand whether on a conscience level or not. This is the smoky malty goodness of the 10 yr wrapped in fruit sweetness. Its very tasty but imo the finishing dulls and flattens the notes of the 10 yr. Kinda comes off like a blend if you know what I mean. It is no doubt delicious but not worth the price bump to me......87/100

@Ctrexman mustache on the Mona Lisa, entertaining but agree with messing with a masterpiece
Just dropped this score, I think Im feeling the same way I did about the Redbrest Lustau. If you have something really great already why fuck with it adding finishes. Yeah its still good and its different but Im strongly in the 10yr camp
The DE was only $3 more than the 10Y last year in NC (I think it's now $9 more). So it was a no-brainer buy if you like sherry finished peat.
Have to agree about the finish. But still being Talisker it’s still delicious. From what I read this is basically Talisker 10 thrown an another barrel a few months before bottling as an experiment.
The prices are much more reasonable in UK and EU for Talisker —-even with shipping and combining orders, turns out better than here
I"ve only had a 2011 DE which I was able to talk the price down a few bucks on due to age. Really great stuff for what it is. As for pricing Lagavulin and Ardbeg are about as weird as it comes on pricing too.
