When I tried this, I'm not sure my palate was ready for the complexity and peat this brings to the table. I was only able to enjoy it after a second round of cubes were allowed to dilute the stuff. My guess would be that if I were to have it again as my taste has been refined, I would be more open to the campfire by the sea experience that it offers. UPDATE: As I suspected, after a few years away, my second experience was significantly better. A room temp neat pour = sweet smoke. Very sweet, actually. quite enjoyable, and a juxtaposition found uniquely in an islay Scotch. Fruity and floral with notable salty/sea notes. Nose is all smoke and sea. Very smooth with no burn at all.
