@Ctrexman this is for you. Finally got around to grabbing a bottle of this to compare with my recent review of Proper 12. Did a side by side. Off the bat, I can say this is practically an amplified version of the Prop. Nose was substantially more potent on the Jameson which was nice. It contained plenty of the bourbon barreling influence along with grains and fruit of some kind. The taste was fuller and somewhat smoother as well. The slight ethanol I got from the Prop was more or less absent here. I didn't really get loads of char I was expecting which was dictated on the label. Some yes. Instead it was more along the lines of burnt sugar/caramel. Vanilla as well. The mouthfeel had a pleasant oily texture. Came off a touch sweeter. The 12 had a smidge drier/bitter finish.
All in all it was an improvement to the Prop, but not miles apart. The extra $10 I paid for the Jameson compared to the Prop went towards the raised sensory intensity for me. I'd still give the P12 a whirl considering its price. Also for poops and chuckles as well. But to answer your question the Black Barrel definitely won out. I honestly enjoyed it a bit more. I'm looking forward to the next pour. Cheers my friend. 🥃

@Ctrexman Very nice! It's definitely quality made. If you can find them, grab the yellow and red as well. Definite differences between them, but not night and day. That said, still worth the purchase. I have all 3 and it was so cool to do them side by side. Heard there's a blue which is the bottom tier of the colors. Surprisingly can't find it anywhere.
@Spirited_Away Opened some Green spot tonight and its fantastic Irish
@Ctrexman Thank you! You may be right. I didn't factor the post opening changes that could take place. I'll definitely look out for it and do another side by side down the road.
@spirited_away Nice side by side. The pot still in the black barrel gives it the edge over regular blends. I hope for the price bump the BB separates itself a bit further from P12 as you go through the bottles
