Nose: cut flower stems followed by a base of honeydew melon rind, faint white wine, and a classic malty mustiness. Palate: surprisingly smooth, without a bite. Light Honeydew melon shows up again on an oily mouthfeel, coupled with hints of creamy vanilla and faint nuttiness. A very pleasant palate that is easy to drink as well as sip. Finish: soft, yet of medium length, with wood tannins that dry the mouth like a dry wine, while keeping a hint of the sweetness the palate brings. Not a complicated masterpiece, or an aggressive islay, but a dang nice scotch that delivers a soft and comforting experience ideal for nights when you don’t want to wrestle or think about the whisky you’re drinking.
