Old Forester 100 Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

The rating may be a little high for this, but in the pecking order of cheaper 100+ proof bourbons, I like this better than WT101, Early Times, and OGD 114. Have heard good things about Cooper's Craft 100; any others I should try?

Completely agree on this one.. I tell everyone that is trying to grab a quick bottle under 30 to grab this. Great rich flavors for 25 bucks
I would echo trying JB/EW/Old Tub BiB, if available, and add Costco’s Kirkland Signature BiB, which pleasantly surprised me.
Both JB BiB and Old Tub (essentially JB BiB without the chill filtering) are excellent contenders. I'd add Very Old Barton to the list, also.
@angstrom I can't recall if I've ever seen Beam BiB, but I'll have to look. Haven't tried Old Tub, but that'd be another good one to check out.
@Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington I'm pretty sure we don't get either of those in Oklahoma, although I just saw that we are about to start getting Willett's stuff, so I'll be on the lookout for the Bardstown.
The two bottles of Jim Beam BiB I had were fantastic for the money, $17 in 2019 and $22 in 2021. Near impossible to find in my area. Makes me wonder if JB Old Tub is any good.
@Ctrexman If I was much into adding sugar, ice, and bitters to my whiskey, OGD114 might be my choice too, as I imagine the proof would hold up nicely.
@ctbeck11 I need to add that one to the list. Also should throw in OGD BiB.
I’m a fan of EW BiB, WT 101, this and OGD 117 but others to consider are JTS Brown BiB - a good one at <$15 but might be KY only (basically HH repackaged, slightly hotter and fruitier than EW BiB), JW Dant doesn’t do it for me (too nutty + furniture polish) - lastly and perhaps mostly would consider is Willett’s Old Bardstown Estate BiB for $20-25
That said Im a huge OF fan
You have to move up in price to better your listed suspects. OGD114 is my choice for sub $25 bliss
I had to stop and think for a minute, but I agree that this beats out WT101and is a solid competitor against ET BiB. This is definitely one of the best values out there.
It’s difficult to beat EW BiB under $20 a bottle in most places. Under $30 and 100+ proof, the crowd thins. I think you’ve listed most of the usual suspects. I’d be interested to hear others’ thoughts as well.
