Great sipping rum. Smells sweet and fruity like mixed tropical fruits boiled in sugar. The oak influence is subtle but apparent. Sweet on the tongue, but not cloying at all, there’s molasses, honey, berries, cocoa, a little bananas foster with cinnamon notes from the wood spices, and a hint of coconut developing late on the palate. Feels silky smooth in the mouth, and the medium finish is nice and warm. Had this side by side with Kaniche perfección, which is created with a very similar process, and found them to be quite similar though the Kaniche was woodier but not as dark and sweet as the Plantation. Came in a really cool card box like a fancy scotch with a tropical scene depicted on it. The bottle was also ornately decorated, so no surprise that it was a bit pricey but a nice presentation. Almost perfection ;).
