Tasting night, belated notes. Nose reminds me of the old bottling of Bakers but lighter. Caramel, oak, peanuts, peaches. The palate starts out softer than the nose with lighter than expected oak, zero heat, medium mouthfeel and then - whiney. Jam, butter and nuts rum away with the show and the spice and oak disappear. I wish this had a stronger, or at least more lasting, bourbon presence. Probably just me but bourbon + wine finishes just don’t work as the bourbon flavors tend to lose out.
I looked at this on sale many times and had to make myself put it back on 2-4 occasions and glad I did. Wine lovers could probably go for this and while I am wine-curious, only fortified wine finished whisky does it for me.

@Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington excellent point. I think we can all appreciate a well executed cup of tea, even if it’s not our cup of tea.
@Scott_E duly noted! Explaining whisk(e)y seems to be like explaining love - we all hope to experience it and not even science can explain it (though many will try).
I liked it better than you did...but only slightly. It had a metallic cola flavor I couldn't get past
@Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington There is no wrong answer when it comes to taste. It’s all very subjective. That is the beauty of whiskey (wine, food, etc). It comes down simply to what’s enjoyable to you and no one else. I enjoy comparing likes and differences with whiskey and especially am curious what another thinks of a pour.
@Scott_E I struggle to separate what I like from what I think is well executed. This is honestly well executed - affordable, available, balanced, approachable - but somehow my taste buds fight it. I felt the same way about Joseph Magnus in the beginning but that has really grown on me. Might just need more time with it but didn’t rock my world (although most finished bourbons don’t - unlike finished whisky)
I thought this was pretty good. Better than I expected. Grape and plumb notes and flavors, etc like you and @BDanner. Price is extremely friendly too.
I'm a Red Wine fan, so perhaps that's why I scored this a good bit higher than you. I definitely got the same Jam vibes you got. Paired with that Beam nuttiness for a Whiskey PB&J.
