Is this a 91? No
Is this really good? Yes
Should you stash it? Probably not, unless quality cheap brown is very hard to get.
Should you pay over msrp? Definitely not much.
Nose:
Fresh red apple slices, faint sweetbreads, cherry menthol, and something faintly vanilla and marshmallow-ly. Reminds me of a bastardized mckenna with more red fruit.
Palate
Starts with the faintest reminder of oak on the inhale, moves quickly to cherry than lighter wheater notes like honey/vanilla. There is a faint "Andes mint" thing in the back where earthy, chewy mint-like savoriness mingles with rich cocoa-y fudge.
Mouth
Short finish but it's nice for being cheap and sweet. 90 proof but glides down very, very velvety.
Don't leave it in the glass too long, as the lightness will become just innofensive and boring.
I paid $43 for a 1.75 and it felt fair. Unless you were just bonkers for buff trace and ABSOLUTELY HAD to try all their offerings I don't really see a reason to hunt this one down or hoard it. Makers is better by a whisker (46 by a decent bit), so I don't really know who this is gonna "wow"... it's "wow" for the msrp but nothing else terribly special.
