Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

The high rye mash bill is right down my alley. This bourbon just works for me. Rich vanilla and brown sugar with the rye spiciness. Mmmm... The price and that it's just about always available on the shelf gives it an extra bump in score.

@angstrom I can imagine it's very good, and I expect I'll want to spring for one at some point, but I like to remind myself that I get a great deal of enjoyment still out of 30-50$ bottles, so there's not a lot of reason for me to routinely spend more.
@soonershrink - I know! I also passed by dusty $75 bottles of single barrel store picks for 4 Roses for many years for the same reason. I recently had my first store pick and it was unbelievable. Worth every penny. Now I wish I could find more.
@DjangoJohnson - This has a lot of fruit and spice notes. Reminds me of better quality MGP and Brown-Forman products, although each has their own DNA.
This is one of the classics I have yet to try but need to. My understanding is this is one of the best deals in bourbon.
@angstrom recently saw a cask strength (60ish%) private barrel on the shelf and thought about buying, but the regular single barrel is so good I wasn't sure it was worth twice as much (80 vs 40).
Such a classic! Price, proof, bottle and juice all exactly what they should be.
