I feel like I’m a pretty seasoned bourbon drinker, so I don’t understand all the moderate reviews. There’s a definite confirmation bias effect among many bourbon drinkers I know (ironically, this doesn’t exist in the wine community, in my experience). Price doesn’t always equal taste, although there’s a lot of subjectivity in that regard. I love Buck and At about $35-40, it’s reasonably priced. I didn’t detect any heat or sharpness. It does seem a little like a smooth rye to me. Very good.

I love this! 8 year GOOD Age Stated Bourbon for $30-$40 is a no brainer. Great musty oak that I get from Henry McKenna 10 and some other older Heaven Hill that runs $60 or more.
