Flóki Young Malt Sheep Dung Smoked Reserve
Single Malt — Iceland

A friend of a friend brought this home from Iceland. Smells and tastes like wet grass that’s been sitting in a trash can for a week in the hot summer sun. On the front of the palate the malt is not bad, but then comes the funky wet barnyard grass. It’s certainly distinct and somewhat interesting, and not as completely unpleasant as it sounds, but you’re definitely not asking for a refill.

I believe we have a mutual friend. In truth, I’ve been too scared to pop mine yet!
@soonershrink at the distillery, I had their unpeated and Sherry cask one, as well as this one. I liked the Sherry cask one best, but thought this was most unique so bought 2 bottles ( one to have during the trip, one to bring back). Later in the trip, I really enjoyed it, but was overlooking amazing scenery , which added a certain bias. Back in NJ, I couldn’t even take a sip of it.
@PBMichiganWolverine I heard something similar from the guy who brought this back. He reportedly really enjoyed tastings at the distillery of this and the regular single malt.
@Benji-Robert I’ve never heard of that - will have to look that up.
@soonershrink I visited them 2 years ago in 2019, right before we started a 10 day drive around Ring Road. Admittedly, I liked it when I was there , but hated it when I had it again at home. I guess the environment added layers of appreciation
reminds me of trying krupnikas LOL
