Nikka Days

Blended — Japan

Reviewed December 14, 2021 (edited November 16, 2022)

3.25 out of 5 stars
A "zöldalmás" whisky. *** The "green apple" whiskey. This dram doesn’t give us great world solutions, nor does it want to. It shows rather floral and light vanilla notes, typical of Nikka. Even if being a NAS, it seems to be a pretty young blend to me. They say it's a "peated blend" - I say I certainly don't feel any trace of smoke. Light and airy on the palate, fruity and floral; the finish seems to be about to linger, but then it suddenly disappears - like a pretty face on the subway. Regardless, it shows a surprising body compared to a plain 40%er. It doesn’t want to look more than it is: a lovable, not complicated at all, dessert grain whiskey, you can safely go for a cocktail with. Unfortunately it is colored (minus half a star). Dry test: close to nothing, unsurprisingly.
