A surprise Xmas gift from my bro in law. Prior to now, I've never tried any Russell's Reserve let alone Wild Turkey. I always recalled Wild Turkey from my old college days being something cheap to get trashed with. Never indulged in it cause back then vodka and tequila were my hard liquor poisons. Anyways, back to business.
Not knowing what to expect, my first impressions were quite positive. The nose was similar to a woodsy vanilla cream scented candle. Oak and said vanilla played a minor role in the flavor mostly due to the dominant cinnamon candy influence that ensued. There was a noticeable sweetness that wasn't cloying, but up there. The finish started off short, but after a few pours became more elongated. This sweetness morphed into a maple essence. Leather subtleties rounded it out well. Some boozy bite that smoothed out quickly. Ice/water was unnecessary unless it's your preference. This won't wow the seasoned drinker, but IMO serves nicely as an everyday drinker.

@robwalker I get why your friend felt that way. This bottle definitely opened me up to looking into WT products now.
My neighbour down the road used to feel the same way about Wild Turkey... until she tried a range of what they have to offer. I'm a big fan of most WT products.
@PBMichiganWolverine yep $29.99 and in stock at TW
@ContemplativeFox 😆 I hear ya. I wasn't aware of the price on this since it was a gift. There are too many good pours that have succumbed to secondary pricing. Such a shame things like this aren't regulated.
@Ctrexman @PBMichiganWolverine Shh - don't let the secret out!
@Ctrexman this is in the $30s??!! How ?? I never bothered looking, always wrongly assumed it must’ve gone through the upward slope like the others
Yep good stuff and great value at low $30s for a 10 yr age statement
