Nose is Jameson regulars (vanilla, citrus, butter) faintly overpowered by a big bowl of orange sherbert. It's only 30%, so I was surprised by the hint of alcohol. It's more ester-y than ethanol, and it's very faint, but it's there
Palate
Alcohol nowhere to be found, drinks literally smoother than anything I've had neat that was sold at this proof. The orange flavor isn't really that strong, like an orange hard candy that got stale. Imagine running hochstadters through a Brita filter 100 times and then adding an airplane of jamo. The orange is extremely palatable, which saves the lack of orange "punch" or orange intensity.
Mouth
It's unbelievably smooth. I mean WOAH easy to imbibe. That's it though. Small kiss of salted grits and marmalade if you really do finish a big neat glass/shot, but otherwise you won't even notice it.
The jameson ecommended cocktail is quality lemonade and I can confirm it's way better than this bottle by itself. This one gets
2.75/5 as a whiskey; totally smashable
And
4/5 as a liquer/cocktail ingredient; a huge punch of booze and orange you could practically hide in any drink.

Also wonder how this would do in tonic with a dash of bitters… sort of a red-headed stepsister of the Negroni?

@angstrom I just made one for you in the interest of "science". it's not bad, but it's missing a drop of sweet rum (like old monk) and a lime. the orange adds a nice edge to the Pepsi, but didn't really do it for me. Jameson cold brew and cola, an actual recommended Jameson cocktail, is AMAZING if you were curious. it goes from 9/10 to 11/10 if you use coca cola dark cold brew flavor.
Have you tried it with Coke? I used to love orange rum and Coke back in the college days. Or made a pseudo Margarita? Thinking of picking this up as a mixer given your review.
@Benji-Robert TBH, I didn't really notice that you said it. Wasn't what I was trying to point out. Was thinking more it belongs elsewhere on the site, not in the whiskey section.
@skillerified that's very true and I didn't consider it. I'm definitely going to pour a little more jameson in it. maybe even a a drop of orange bitters. When I called it a "whiskey" I was being extremely generous, it definitely doesn't really fit that definition.
Guess I'm going to be "that guy," but is it still whiskey at 30%? I bet the bottle doesn't say whiskey on it anywhere. Not that that diminishes the drink or the review.
Jameson with fruit at 30% being the smoothest thing ever? Yeah, that makes sense actually
