A- amber+1, high viscosity
N- gentle, pleasant, fruity (apricots, plums, sultanas, tangerines) sweet (vanilla, honey, toffee), white pepper ( was not expecting this)
P- gentle spicy arrival, full, rich, oily, fruity (apricots, plums, sultanas, tangerines), sweet (toffee, honey, vanilla) licorice, tart, walnuts, wet oak
F- medium to long finish, sweet-fruity-nutty aftertaste
C- ok mix feelings with this one, this bottle have been opened for 8 months now and to be honest at the beginning I was a bit disappointed (like my fellow distillers friends in here) so I let it seat for almost 6 months and decided to come back to this one not sure if my palate has evolved but I'm finding nice and interesting tasting notes this time

@angstrom interesting experiment indeed!
@angstrom agreed!! but it also says that the product is not consistent and that’s scary specially for the prices we are paying lately
@hvalbuena I would be willing to try something for science. Buy two bottles at the same time. Slowly drink one. Then 6-12 months later open the second. Try 4 pours: opened, opened and aerated, new, new and aerated. Try blind and compare results. Which bottle would be a top candidate? Affordable, available, delicious and big change after it is open 6 months.
@hvalbuena Batch variation and “open time” are the real deal. Which is the dirty little secret on the big variance in reviews, notes and scores.
@angstrom I feel the same way the change is noticeable and like I said not sure is because our palates evolve or just oxidation is doing the job or maybe both LOL
I feel like the sherry & port Scotches need time to open up. I really noticed the second half of Glendronach 12 15 and Portwood, Glenfarclass 17, and Glenmorangie Portwood taste dramatically different, and better, the second half of the bottle. I am tempered to try my wine aerator next to I open a bottle as a blind taste test.
@Ctrexman agreed!
I m with you its good scotch....just not 18 yr good
