Nose
First it immediately hits with spice notes of cinnamon, clove. The Orange Marmelade, baked peach and marcipann following immediately after the spice. It ends with warm woody notes, vanilla and coconut. There was also some sour note that I think was coming as a result of relatively young spirit that I didn't like much.
Taste
It is definitely spicy, without a water has a definite bite. The palate develops quite quickly, backing spice, dry dark fruits, dark chocolate, not too sweet. The finish is dry and on a shorter side. It feels a bit thin.
It definitely benefited from water. Became more tamed, toffy sweetness and fruit notes become more prominent. The oakines and acidity subsided and the finish became even more chocolate.
Overall not a bad whisky. It felt a bit unbalanced to me, perhaps not designed for my taste. Definitely well made whisky, recommended to people who like bold and spicy whisky profile.
