Slainte-Mhath
Kilkerran 12 Year

Some bottles tend to be sold out as soon as they hit the shelves, which in case of Kilkerran 12 should not come as a surprise. Like a chameleon, the nose ranges from citrus fruits, charcoal and hints of brine to farmland, ginger and band-aid. On the palate, the crisp and herbal arrival is followed by drying oak spices, lemon candies and just the right amount of peat, all very dense and spirit-driven. White pepper, chamomile and a dash of salt introduce the long and savory finish, lingering on with soot, tobacco and fresh mint. Load up the truck while you can!

Congrats on the milestone. I look forward to many more.
@ContemplativeFox I have nosed a lot of things over the years, but a chameleon... no. But yes, some descriptors are funny. Tasting tar or leather? Reminiscent of bull piss? Some reviews are just hilarious.
Cheers to molecules consumed and those yet to come, I’m inspired by the sheer diversity but also interested to hear how you dialed into Caol Ila and your other favorites!
I was going to jokingly misunderstand your notes and ask where you'd smelled a chameleon, but it seems more important to congratulate you on such a big milestone! 🥳🎉🎊🥃Looking forward to your continued tastings!
@Slainte-Mhath congratulations on 200. A great scotch to cross that milestone.
@PBMichiganWolverine Thanks mate, slow but steady we move forward!
@cascode Thanks, I was uncertain which bottle to pick for review 200. I considered Taketsuru 21, but opted for a core range bottle which is hopefully available to more people reading my reviews.
@Anthology Thanks! My unpublished reviews are mainly for independent bottlings or releases not available in the US. I didn't bother to add all these bottles here, as it is probably not of interest. My quick hit reviews not published on Distiller are available here: https://www.whiskybase.com/profile/slintemhath/lists/notes
@Slainte-Mhath congrats! Here’s hoping to see more from you !
@Slainte-Mhath Congratulations on the milestone - a great whisky choice to mark the occasion. Here's to the next 200 excellent reviews. Cheers!
Nice review and big congrats on your 200th! Keep ‘em coming! Curious about the 91 unpublished 😊
200th review! After 6 years into my whisky journey, I have tasted more than 700 bottles, wrote 291 tasting notes (91 unpublished), made dozens of whisky friends all around the world, started to work for whiskybase.com, and combined traveling with distillery visits. Caol Ila, old single grains and Japanese whiskies have become my focus, and I piled up a collection of bottles that I will never finish in my lifetime. It has been quite a journey!
