(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Virtual Whisky Tasting, 18 March 2022).
Nose: Floral, citrus, light hairspray, gorse and heather
Palate: Caramel, citrus, orange. Slightly sour note, black pepper, gristy barley, tinned pears. Honey sweetness.
Finish: Medium long finish. Darker on the finish than the palate. Brown sugar, baking spices, tobacco, leather and oak/ash. Souring darkly on the aftertaste.
Parcel of 10 casks from Mannochmore Distillery
Honeyed, fruity and spicy. A little souring on the finish. Quite peppery behind the fruit and darker as it sits on the palate. This is a nice dram, but the sour notes brought it down a little.
Came joint second out of the six drams, with 20% of the final vote for favourite of the night. 80% of those present said they enjoyed the whisky.

@cascode @icsteel154 so many new distilleries popping up. On the bright side, the lure of paying silly prices for a 3 yr old inaugural release has waned down
Thanks - I had heard about the new distillery but did not realise this was something to do with it. Hopefully our local liquor shop will have tasting when they get out here.
@cascode Yes, they are currently building a new distillery in Campbeltown (the Dál Riata Distillery). They have released the South Star range as part of their announcement. So far, I've seen an Islay, a Highland and the Speyside as part of the initial bottling releases.
Oh! What goes on? Is this a new brand from Iain?
