Weller Antique 107 Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

A great example of wheated bourbon that isn't just sweetness. Unlike the everyday Wellers (Special Reserve), the Antique 107 offers the burn of a noticeably higher proof. There is a nice viscosity as it sits on the tongue, then flashes of heat in the cheeks and sides of the tongue. A bit of wood char, then tart apples come through quite clearly. Most of the sweetness is crisp and bright, especially noticeable if aerated against the palate. A very nicely balanced whiskey that's easy to get into as long as the higher proof doesn't scare you off. Probably a keeper on my shelves.

@DigitalCork Despite being a quality product, at this point in time the shelf price reflects scarcity economics rather than supply-side costs. Which is OK, I just spend my $$ where I can get a better value (usually, haha). Wouldn't turn down a pour, though!
@bigwhitemike @Ctrexman Runs for a buck thirty in my neck of the woods. I learned something from this conversation. Thanks.
Yeah Weller special is easy to get in Texas.......the rest not so much. I have a bottle of 107 I got in NH and really its not all that considering the hype
@Ctrexman I get the luxury of laughing at myself thinking this could be a "keeper" on my shelf. I've only seen it in a handful of stores in the last 2.5 of the 4 years since I've posted this. Granted, I don't have a Specs liquor wonderland! I eventually bit the bullet and bunkered a couple of WSR handles, but even that is just contributing to the problem haha.
Cant believe the scarcity and hikes on the Weller line save for SR
