Starlight Single Barrel Huber's Old Rickhouse Rye Finished in VDN Barrels
Rye — Indiana, USA

This particular single barrel is a Bourbon Lens selection, bottled at 52.4%, 5 years old, 11 months in a vino de naranja barrel.
The white wine and orange peel are evident on the nose, along with bourbony notes of caramel and vanilla. The palate brings orange, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, mint, and mild herbal notes. The finish leaves a little too much bitter orange peel.
At the sale price of $50, I think this was a great buy, but at the regular price of $70, the value diminishes a bit, although it's still a well done craft whiskey with decent age and a unique finish.
This is the first whiskey I've tried from Starlight, and it's a strong first impression. I'd be interested to try some others. 3.5 stars.

@soonershrink ahh makes sense. Google translate helps out here: naranja = orange. Thanks.
@Scott_E vino de naranja - I believe it's a white wine flavored with orange peels
@PBMichiganWolverine what is VDN ?
I was curious of this as well…got a bottle. The VDN sounds interesting with the rye-orange combo
