I get a sweet and savory smoke on the nose that is a touch abrasive with some ash, iodine, and ethanol. It’s not my favorite Islay nose but it reminds me of my favorites if not just a bit younger and less well rounded. The taste is very sweet with light fruits like melon and apples. The sweetness lingers as the ashy smoke builds and overtakes the finish along with some sherry notes to round out the initial brightness. A nice journey of flavors that’s worth revisiting, but not quite on the same level of Ardbeg or Laphroaig.
