I don't know my way around rum, but when my club does a cask strength pick for $65 that's an immediate buy. This rum is blended by Phenomenal Spirits, which has been doing good things with RY3 and are very accommodating to clubs for private picks. If you peruse an ABC for aged rum, you'll mostly find 40% or 43% for $30-50 from major distillers. I think this is a steal at this price. There are other 10Y picks floating around the state in addition to the occasional 15Y cask strength for $80. These are good jumping off points for bourbon drinkers because they are aged in ex-bourbon barrels and have a lot of oak influence.

Nice review! I'm also an NC guy, over in Charlotte.
