4.0 stars - Excellent; 750 ml bottle
This one lands on the good side of surprising and strange.
My motto for Compass Box is: Always good, never boring, and completely honest. This whisky is the embodiment of that concept. I will leave it as an exercise to the reader to debate the price.
The flavor is all cinnamon and vanilla whip cream. This is not at all what I expected. Yet, I kept coming back to this whiskey, night after night for a couple months. Often, the novelty was refreshing after familiar pours.
With time, the cinnamon note calms down and there is the slightest kiss of smoke and oak.

@angstrom you’re right — I didn’t realize I posted this some time ago. About 50% is 21+ yr. So, it’s apparently : Loch Lomond , 11yr, 2nd fill bourbon barel, 31% Hedonism, 16yr, 2nd fill bourbon, 17.8% North British, 24yr, recharred American oak, 36.7% Cameronbridge, 24yr, Recharred American oak, 14.5%
@PBMichiganWolverine The older grain definitely is providing that vanilla whipped cream note. Seems to be high quality, 20+ yr grain in the mix.
@angstrom I was hesitant on this, but sounds interesting enough to pick up. Price is bit high…is it older grain?
