Kilchoman Loch Gorm (2019 Edition)
Peated Single Malt — Islay, Scotland

This has a great balance between peat and Oloroso sherry flavors, and shows a great deal of complexity. On the nose both the sherry and peat stand out, but they seem well integrated and sort of meld into each other. Earthy, briny, with a sort of fruit smoke emanating. The palate has toffee, salt, raisin, earthy peat, nuts, smoke, berry, dark chocolate. It’s rich and has a nice texture to it. It’s a really well-made whisky, and so far has been quite a bit better of an experience than I had with the Sanaig. I’m in the 3.75-4 range on this one.
