Nose - Heavily toasted rye bread, red hot cinnamon, clove, white pepper, menthol, bright oak, and medium ethanol.

This pick by some friends in NCWH is an excellent example of not only great value in cask strength rye by a craft distiller, but also shows what you can do with finished rye outside of the typical double oaked or wine finish. I could not put my finger on this flavor profile until my brother tried it. He's into wine and has lived in multiple Europeans countries. The first thing he said is this tastes like nice, old cognac. That's exactly what it tastes like. An American rye version of cognac. The French oak staves and Limousin oak provide flavors you won't typically find in a double oaked rye. Considering the age, finishing, and proof, $55 is an incredible value coming from a small distiller in Wisconsin.
