Kilchoman Sanaig (2016 Edition)
Peated Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Tasted August 26, 2022
Caramel colored appearance to it than some. More rounded peat nose with some vanilla or toffee present. Taste has a very pronounced smoke flavor to it (even for Islay Scotch). It's balanced by the sweetness that still seems to have vanilla or toffee backings to it, or perhaps some molasses. The finish is on-par with most peated Scotch and is very pleasant an balanced. Perhaps still smokier than some but moves into a nice spice balance that lingers for an intermediate amount of time. Very enjoyable and I like the slightly higher proof than some at 92 proof.
