Tasted at a Dan Murphys whisky event, 15 ml pour and quite a distracting environment, but some brief notes here that give an idea of whats in this bottle.
N: soft wood, sweet vanilla, stone fruit. Maybe some honied pear. A little simple. But nice enough.
P: OK. This was odd. iN my distraction I had to do a double take, I thought I was drinking wine. Similar in many ways to a cross between a wooded chardonnay and an SSB. Winey, slightly astringent gooseberry; big oak and a butterscotch sweetness. Creamy mouthfeel. Soft and perfectly acceptable.
F: Short. Buttery, again like a wooded chardonnay. Some slight tannins and a little spice.
Odd. Very wine like with SSB and Chardonnay flavours. Interesting and surprising for an Irish. Pleasantly unexpected. Simple, but well delivered. And whilst nothing wrong with it, I wouldn't buy a bottle or choose to have again.
