The nose has bruleed peach, black licorice, cherry saltwater taffy, dark chocolate. The palate is full of fruits, cherry, cranberry, peach, candied ginger, dark chocolate, Christmas spices. The finish is maybe a smidge more bitter than I would like. Maybe.
@DrRHCMadden was spot on with the description of this as the autumn whisky to the springtime Sauternes finish. I think I prefer the springtime Sauternes, but it may be that the lingering Oklahoma heat going into October hasn't got me feeling autumny yet. Still, this is quite enjoyable. Lovely rose color. The proof is appreciated. The texture is good. Seems like Arran can do no wrong.

@cascode @Ctrexman I wouldn’t bet against the Arran, it’s just in order to get it, I’d probably have to find it online and order for at least 2x as much as I can get the QR locally.
@Ctrexman You will win the bet - Arran Port Cask Finish soundly trumps Quinta Ruban in my book.
Arran is a rock star.......Im betting it will best Glenmo QR
@soonershrink under $40, hard ti argue with that!
@DrRHCMadden I haven't seen the Port finish around. For a port finish, I quite like the Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban, especially when I can find it under $40 around here.
Wait for winter then before sampling the port cask. If it’s still too warm then you could just go quarter cask for the lightest sessionable quaffer in the range.
