Wow. Wow. And wow.
I’ve had a few good bourbons ( Cowboy, ECBP, not any Pappy or BTAC yet), but this has to be my new favorite bourbon I’ve ever had. Unfortunately it was just an ounce pour.
Nose is maple syrup and caramel apples. Fantastic aroma that just makes you want to nose it all day.
Taste …really well balanced between fruit and oak. Intensity is dialed up to a 11, but it’s not intense the way Cowboy or ECBP is…this is much more elegant. It’s really is a masterclass on balance between fruit and oak.
I’ve not had the RR10 or their single barrel, but I’m guessing it’s no where as good as this. This is superb cask management and selection, with the right rickhouse placement.
Price is an issue…MSRP is a mere $100, but retailers have this marked 6-8x of that.

@PBMichiganWolverine Nope, upstate NY, Utica and Syracuse
@PBMichiganWolverine it was in Pa for a minute for $100 but when I discovered this there was only one bottle left and it was in a county three hours away
@jlow wondering if that’s in those controlled states ? ( NC, MI, etc)? Here in the NJ / NYC area, can’t even find it. And if we do, it’s well north of $400-500
@PBMichiganWolverine Just paid $88.99 at my local and had another offer it to me for $93.99 So it’s out there at msrp…
@PBMichiganWolverine DeBeers have arrived and would like you to hold their beer.
@Scott_E not sure it’s conspiracy. More of a meticulously planned highway robbery.
@PBMichiganWolverine I personally believe is planned scarcity to artificially inflate prices. It’s just my own conspiracy theory.
@Scott_E so, I did a quick back of the napkin calculation: based on 1) $40 for RR10, 2) storage cost for a barrel in Kentucky ( it’s cheap…not really midtown NYC there ), 3) $15/yr appreciation per year , 4) extra 5% tax per year, and finally 5) few hours /week of FTE w benefits….I got the 13 should be in the range of $90-130. So, anything over that is profit to the retailer.
@Scott_E I need to buy the 10. At less than $50, it’s a no brainer. I’m astonished the price difference between this and the 10, but I guess it’s not the MSRP but rather the retailers just based on scarcity
@soonershrink 2022. Seems like this will be an annual release?
@Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington yeah…The price on this makes 0 sense. Id stay away till the recession hits next year
@PBMichiganWolverine having just recently having a pour of the 10, which pleasantly surprised me (it was extremely good), I need to try this. You had me at wow! (Lol)
Was one of my faves from last year. Did you try the 2021 or 22 batch?
Danger Will Robinson…
