Nose: Floral, nutty, hairspray, stone fruits
Palate: Sweet, spicy, fruit (redcurrants & cranberries), wood shavings, orange zest, creamy mouthfeel
Finish: Long finish. Nutty, blackberries, liquorice, coffee, dark chocolate. Dries on the aftertaste.
This is a departure from the typically sherried spirit we expect from GlenAllachie, less sherried and veering towards brandy notes. A pretty decent, if ultimately dry dram
Came joint last out of the six drams, with 0% of the final vote for favourite of the night. 64% of those present said they enjoyed the whisky. There were two stand out drams that dominated the voting, so some of the whiskies may have unfairly suffered as a result.
