Croftengea 2006 16 Year Old 2006 (Thompson Bros.)
Single Malt — Scotland

(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Virtual Whisky Tasting, 04 February 2023).
Nose: Menthol, mint, forest floor, melon, orchard fruit/apples. Damp & musty
Palate: Fruity - sour berries, pears, stewed apple, sweet, light peat smoke, black pepper
Finish: Long finish. Musty, ashy, muddy. Loads of ash and char. Pepper, leather and tobacco
Distilled: 08 March 2006
Bottled: November 2022
This is not as peated as I'd expect from Croftengea. There's a fruity sweetness throughout, but the peatiness is mostly absent apart from little wisps here and there, and a musty dry ashiness on the finish.
Came joint last out of the six drams, with 0% of the final vote for favourite of the night. 91% of those present said they enjoyed the whisky. There were two stand out drams that dominated the voting, so some of the whiskies may have unfairly suffered as a result.
