(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Virtual Whisky Tasting, 04 February 2023).
Nose: Candied fruit, floral, citrus, window putty
Palate: Sweet honey, full bodied, rich, caramel, berries, berry pudding, malt loaf
Finish: Long finish. Sweet tobacco, black pepper. There's a brandy note on the finish. Loads of dark dried fruits - figs and dates.
Unpeated spirit
Concerto malt (mostly from Fife)
24 ex-bourbon casks, finished in Madeira casks
Unctuous, sweet and full-bodied. Caramel, fruity and malty. This has a bit of a burn to it, but the fullness, layers of sweetness and creamy mouthfeel makes is a hell of an enjoyable burn! A wee cracker!
Came close second out of the six drams, with 45% of the final vote for favourite of the night. 100% of those present said they enjoyed the whisky. There were two stand out drams that dominated the voting, so some of the whiskies may have unfairly suffered as a result. I liked this enough to buy a bottle during the tasting.
