On the nose, the whiskey presents with notes of honey, vanilla, burnt sugar, and a hint of stone fruit.
On the palate, the drink offers apricot, honeyed floral notes, a breath of vanilla, and tannic notes of the bourbon and sherry casks. The body of the dram is characterized by a rich and peppery spice with an underlying quality of oily orange rind. It finishes with a light brine and a whisper of oak. It features a gentle fire and smoke that settles pleasantly in the throat and chest.
When compared to the 15 or the 18, one can detect the youth of this dram. That said, it is absolutely delicious, and is best enjoyed pure and unadulterated by mixing.
