Tasting Methodology: Neat in a Canadian Glencarin class. Rested 10 minutes.
Nose: Sweet. Crimson lipstick. -> resting Cellar wood.
Mouthfeel: Dry neutral-density. Impedance matched to my tongue. Smooth - no perceivable burn.
Palate: dusky peat, dry bursting sweetness. A drop of iodine.
Finish: Dry driftwood. No burn.
Note: wow. This is a sweet whisky, but the peat completely cancels it out. The sweet registers as a ‘pressure’/mouthfeel than a taste.
Woodier in a dry way (vs triple wood was fresh wet campfire woody).
I enjoy this more than laphroaig 10 year.
