Very grain forward, bready. A little hot. The sherry cask contributes some spice. A little musty, but doesn't drink like it spent 28 years in a sherry cask. Haven't had much single grain whisky, but based on this I'm probably not seeking them out.

@Anthology I don't hate it, it's just way more harsh than a single malt of equivalent age. It kinda reminds me of some of the American single malts I've had.
I have this somewhere in my pile. I went against the unwritten “rule of thumb” on grain whiskeys I think I got from @slainthemanthe (I.e. minimum of 30 years old before they’re good) and bought this anyway cos it was so close to the 30 yr mark. I can only hope mine came from a different barrel when I crack it.!
