For our quarterly virtual tasting with @PBMichiganWolverine , @ctbeck11 , @Richard-ModernDrinking and @Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington , @PBMichiganWolverine was kind enough to treat us to a round the world assortment of drams.
First off was this 14 year old Tamdhu single cask that was bottled at 58.8% ABV.
At first the nose is mildly overpowering with a high ethanol burst that begins to dissipate with time revealing layers of tropical fruits with rich caramels underscored with mildly sour red berries and a light spice that carries over to the palate with a rich velvety mouthfeel with a mild sourness and spice before the long and velvety finish with tropical fruits leading before fading to light earthy spices.
I’m not sure the cost of this one and I believe @PBMichiganWolverine blessed by the whiskey gods and given this for free, but if this is under $150, I’d strongly recommend it as it was a real treat to start off our tasting.

@cascode so, when I first had this, I liked it. But when we had it in our virtual tasting, I didn’t. I think the order we had that evening was : Thompson New Zealand, Chichibu, Tamdhu, Chattanooga. So…I have a feeling everything after the Chichibu felt disappointing.
@PBMichiganWolverine Yes, I thought it was a Hunter Laing First Editions bottle - you can just make out part of the distinctive top label they use for this range. Sounds like a real cracker.
@cascode that’s my mistake…took a bad picture. It’s an IB…First Editions
@pkingmartin Is this a distillery bottling or an IB? Can't tell from the label.
@pkingmartin another fun evening with you all…fun conversations and great pours.
