Here's the whole review:
This is 90% of the way to Blanton's if you don't want to wait in line and pay too much for the fancy bottle.
It's the same mashbill. It's the same distillery. It's not a single barrel, and it's slightly lower proof.
It's almost Blanton's and it's like 16$ for a 750.

Hadn't heard that rumor, but it makes total sense. I've always thought that if that 36 month age statement was accurate that they are practicing some black magic in those rickhouses.
I firmly believe the rumor that this stuff's just barrels that were intended to be single barrels of Blanton's, but weren't QUITE up to snuff so get batched into this line. I've blinded this against Blanton's with several groups of people and found it to be nearly a 50/50 rate of what people chose as liking better, and almost a 100% rate of difficulty in choosing between the two because they were so similar. Had a few people straight up NOT believe me when I revealed the bottles at the end.
This is probably the best 3 year age stated Bourbon out there. Tastes much older leading me to believe that they may be sneaking some older stock in there. I have a Blanton's bottle sitting on my liquor cart filled with this (no, I don't serve it to friends as actual Blanton's, it's simply there to meet TWTWIRBM's criteria that the bottles have to be "pretty"), and when I want to feel fancy I make my Old Fashioned with it. You can definitely taste the Blanton's lineage in there.
